My 2025 Bhubaneswar Durga Puja Route
My 2025 experience gave me a very different way of looking at Bhubaneswar’s Puja season. I started from Four Gate and headed toward Rasulgarh first.
At Rasulgarh, work was still going on, with the decoration taking shape while workers continued with the preparation. The main gate had a peacock design, lighting around it and a chandelier-like decorative element on top. I drove slowly through the area, filmed the visuals and later worked on the video at night.
From Rasulgarh, I moved to Jharpada and then Station Bazaar. It was Saptami, and the contrast between locations was easy to notice. Some gates were already finished while others still needed more work. Station Bazaar was open, and its gate had the appearance of an old building.
After that came Unit-1, where the gate used white, pink and blue along with lighting. Shahid Nagar followed, with another theme-based gateway. I did not record the exact theme name, so I would rather leave that detail out than guess.
I then continued toward Bomikhal and Nayapalli. Both had attractive decorations, and by this point it was difficult to keep driving without wanting to stop and film another gate. The Puja atmosphere had already started building from Shashthi, while the crowd became much heavier around Saptami night.
The final stop was Damana. Its gate had a tunnel-like appearance, with plenty of lighting, and the design was different from the previous year.
My full route was Four Gate → Rasulgarh → Jharpada → Station Bazaar → Unit-1 → Shahid Nagar → Bomikhal → Nayapalli → Damana.
After spending the day travelling, filming and later editing, I was exhausted. I stopped for food and had aloo paratha before continuing. That small break was probably as necessary as the tea later on.
A Practical Route for Seeing the Pandals
If you want to cover several major locations in one outing, a route based around Four Gate, Rasulgarh, Jharpada, Station Bazaar, Unit-1, Shahid Nagar, Bomikhal and Nayapalli can give you a broad view of the city’s Puja decorations.
Damana can be added as a final stop if time allows. For 2026, Baramunda, Palasuni, Patia and Rasulgarh are also worth keeping on the list as their construction develops.
The best route depends on traffic, parking and how long you spend at each location. During the main Puja evenings, crowd levels can change quickly, so a route that is comfortable in the afternoon may take much longer at night.

Do not expect every pandal to look finished during an early visit. Construction teams work through different stages, and some committees continue decoration close to the festival.
